New opportunities

The Honors College at Montana State University provides opportunities for students from all academic majors to study, conduct research and exchange ideas in a challenging and supportive academic environment. Honors students may enroll in interdisciplinary Honors seminars and routinely engage in independent research opportunities, so that they may become their own teachers.

For several summers, Tippet Rise Art Center and the Honors College at Montana State University have afforded Honors students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse themselves in art, music, and nature at the Tippet Rise Art Center. After attending preparatory lectures on the music and land, the students spend a few days attending world-class chamber music concerts, experiencing the Center’s magnificent sculptures up close, taking in the spectacular landscape, and interacting with the founders, artists, staff, architects, and engineers. Through this experiential visit, the students – many of whom had never attended a classical music concert before – learn that the arts can transform, inspire and connect us all.
