Supporting fire prevention
The Nye Fire Association's purpose is to organize and sponsor educational opportunities for Nye Volunteer Fire members and the wider community as a whole to better support fire prevention and suppression efforts in Nye, Montana. Within the department, this entails sponsoring training sessions for volunteers, offered in-house or externally through scholarships. Nye Fire Association also has a community outreach focus, working to provide information about fire safety and awareness.
Some of their activities have included:
– Organizing a fire extinguisher maintenance day at the fire hall where community members could bring their home extinguishers to check if they needed to be replaced.
– Participating in wildfire awareness outreach, bringing in a US Forest Service expert and distributing materials about defensible space around the home and other preparedness.
– Co-sponsoring informational events and working with the Stillwater Valley Watershed Council on fuels mitigation in the Nye area.
– Hosting a fire extinguisher demonstration and info booth at Nye Goes Nuts.
The Sidney E. Frank Foundation supports general operations for the Nye Fire Association, ensuring that the Nye, Montana community is well prepared for fire emergencies.
