Founded in 1764 in Providence, Rhode Island, Brown University is a leading teaching and research university with a distinct focus on student-centered learning. Brown’s students, faculty and staff are driven by the belief that their work can change the world, and the University fosters a dynamic undergraduate experience through its flexible yet rigorous Open Curriculum. In 2004, Sidney E. Frank donated $100 million to Brown to create a financial aid program that would fully fund promising undergraduates with the highest need. Over the past 15 years, the Sidney Frank Scholars program has provided students from low-income families with the funding and support they need to prepare for life after graduation. The Sidney E. Frank Foundation continues to invest in their success through an emergency needs fund, support for internships and summer research opportunities, career development, and a peer mentoring program. 

Beyond the Sidney Frank Scholars program, the Foundation has supported graduate fellowships in biology and medicine, an international exchange program, and the Sidney Frank Digital Studio in Brown’s Rockefeller Library (pictured above).
