World-class theatre

The National Theatre makes world-class theatre that is entertaining, challenging and inspiring. It stages about 25 productions a year – a mix of reimagined classics, new plays, adaptations and musicals – at three theatres on London’s South Bank, across the UK and around the world.

The Sidney E. Frank Foundation supported the National Theatre’s opening seasons of NT Live, which broadcasts HD films of theatre productions to venues around the world. So far, more than 10 million people in 65 countries have seen one of 80 NT Live broadcasts. The Sidney E. Frank Foundation also supported free online access for UK schools to a selection of NT Live films, and the NT Collection, the next phase of the project, which offers a growing library of films and supplementary materials to schools, colleges, universities and libraries around the world.
