Equity and fairness
The Trust for Public Land (TPL) creates parks and protects land for people, ensuring healthy livable communities for generations to come. They believe that equity and fairness matter, and that a relationship between people and nature is critical for a healthy place and a healthy landscape. TPL’s vision is that the people of Hawai‘i are thriving and healthy, and meaningfully connected to the land, each other, and a living Hawaiian culture. Community is at the center of everything TPL does, and they have been connecting communities to the outdoors and to each other in Hawai‘i since 1979, protecting over 50,000 acres of parks and natural lands; working farms and ranches; coastal landscapes; watershed and native forests; and lands that are important to and perpetuate Hawaiian culture.
The Sidney E. Frank Foundation supports general operation for the Hawaiian Islands program, allowing TPL to work toward protecting treasured landscapes that provide immense cultural, agricultural, and educational resources to local communities across Hawaii.
